Work Readiness and Placement

National Skills Awards Best Career Guidance and Vocational Programme 2017!!
Employers need employees with soft skills, that is, young people who know the importance of coming to work on time, every day. Who understand teamwork; communicate effectively; and provide excellent customer service. We provide skills to young people to become effective employees. This course is for any learner who needs to prepare for the world of work in terms of career opportunities and to find employment. It also prepares the learner for self-employment through small business start-ups.
Students are placed with employers on completion of the work readiness programme. Clear programme details and role expectations and a reporting system are outlined for this part of the training.

Skilled and Able

Students still awaiting placement are provided with an entrepreneurship programme called “Skilled and Able: Turning Artisans into Entrepreneurs!” Here they learn to utilise the skills obtained in their trade in entrepreneurial initiatives such as small businesses. The project is an innovative model of best practice in career guidance. It has a significant potential in the area of designing a future model for TVET Colleges in South Africa that TVET Colleges can use whereby they put in place integral work readiness preparation and placement, plus entrepreneurship ability as part of the training of artisans in the country.
